A great all-rounder The new Kia Sorento is the complete package. It looks good, it’s well-put-together, it’s practical, it’s roomy and it’s multifaceted, and it’s available with an efficient diesel or hybrid engine – or an even more efficient plug-in hybrid drivetrain.
A fashionable and practical family car While this handsome SUV cuts quite the dash, it has much more to offer than mere good looks. For instance, a combination of elevated ground clearance and five-door body ensures that access for rear-seated travellers is as easy as can be. As well as plenty of passenger flexibility, including a sliding middle row, the Sorento features a 616-litre boot (five-seat mode), which expands to as much as 2,011 litres (two-seat mode; diesel model).
Super-efficient and powerful It says something that the Sorento’s least efficient option is a hybrid drivetrain, which is not far behind its diesel counterpart, which manages up to 42.2mpg – not bad for such a big vehicle. The latter also offers the greatest towing capacity. However, in terms of fuel economy, it’s the plug-in hybrid iteration that comes out on top, returning as much as 176.6mpg while producing CO2 emissions from just 38g/km.

Trim level

The new Kia Sorento is available in one trim level, which makes selection very simple. It also means that the vehicle is extremely well-specified as standard.

Edition Hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants are fitted with 19-inch alloy wheels, while diesel models ride on 20-inch all-black equivalents. A tilt-and-slide panoramic sunroof is included, as is a 10-way power adjustable driver’s seat that also offers four-way electric lumbar support. Multimedia highlights include a 10.25-inch touchscreen, a 12-speaker Bose premium sound system, satellite navigation and a wide range of passive safety features and driver aids, including a 360-degree monitor. Indeed, the vehicle comes with Euro NCAP’s maximum five-star crash-test blessing.
